About life in these strange times – taking advantage of an opportunity

Three recent scenes summarize for me how we are living:

People were avoiding a place close to their houses due to the COVID virus, and yet that same people travelled to another country, exposing themselves to the same virus (no masks on the way)!

I’ve passed through sunshine, drizzle, storm, cloudy and rain… in just one walk, less than an hour!

A dog walking with its dog walker… without leash!

What is the meaning and the lesson to be learnt?

  • There is a lot of fear, illogical unreasonable fear, which makes people to not reflect and instead to act on instinct, wasting wonderful opportunities. Fear prevents people to take a chance.
  • Another reason people don’t take a chance comes in the form of an obstacle. In fact, whenever someone is trying to change something in their life, complications come on the way as if life doesn’t want the person to change. Keep going, keep moving; the weather in your life will change and you will adapt.
  • Freedom comes from the power of adaptation to new situations. Not adapting in the sense of losing a dream or an objective, rather than that, by throwing unnecessary thoughts and emotions away. In other words, enjoy the ride, life is giving!

What are the scenes in your life that inspire you to understand the world?

Discovering that part of yourself that is hidden from others

Johari Window: exploring the hidden parts…

You have a secret!

Maybe the reason you have it is because you consider it so valuable, you don’t want to share, at least not to everyone and not until this moment; which is OK, after all, treasures are to be kept. They are an object of legend! Right?

I give you an alternative. Find the right moment (soon, please!) and show that talent you have, what you have been studying or the wonderful discovery you are not revealing to others.

In fact, the more you expose your treasures, the more you will develop them.

However, there are secrets you don’t tell others because of some type of fear. What are they going to tell me if they know this?

If you really want to develop a good relationship with other people, those secrets can turn into an obstacle. There are a few options for you:

  • Find the RIGHT MOMENT, that instant people will value what you have. It is true particularly in relation to talents or skills.
  • Generate a space of dialogue and talk to those people, open your heart. Before doing that, take some mercy balm in the form of a nice book with encouraging words or a song that will remind you how great you are. This is specially for those secrets that can harm a relationship.
  • In both cases, I suggest you to meditate before doing any of those things. Meditation will empower you.
  • If people hurt you because what you have shown or told them, don’t cry. The meditation will help you to not get into despair and something good you can do is to remind yourself THAT IS MY TREASURE. As they didn’t recognize its value, it is time to look for other people who will value it as much as you do.

There may be many more reasons for you to keep things hidden from others, but I would like to highlight two more:

  • Self-doubt. Yes, you have that treasure, but you are not sure it is so interesting or others need it. The best thing for that is to talk with someone you trust and work on what to do about it.
  • Maybe OTHERS haven’t acknowledged you have that treasure. Well, that hurts! You have already shown them, you have talked to them and you have posted it everywhere, but people seem to ignore it or at least they don’t give the value you think it should receive. Well, in that case, a talk with experts in the area of your treasure will clear your mind in relation to others’ reasons. After that, you can plan what to do to make others appreciate that wonderful treasure.

Finding hope

Many times, things don’t work. A few times, you will feel like in a very dark tunnel. What to do?

There are plenty of things to do, but there is one thing that must be present.

Hope.

And there will be times in which hope will be hidden behind many layers of fear, uncertainty, lack of courage… And so on…

Still, even when hope seems to have been disappeared, it is there… somewhere…

In those cases, a few tips can help:

  • Be patient with yourself.
  • No matter what happens, don’t give up.
  • Talk with very positive people.
  • Avoid people who tell you, you can’t.
  • Don’t read bad news or bad books.
  • Read A LOT of wonderful articles that show you things are WONDERFUL.
  • Smile a lot, even when there are no reasons.
  • Work hard, enjoy even harder.
  • Be a friend to others.
  • Take cooperation from your friends.

Then, hope will come to your mind and will shine like a sun within that dark tunnel.

A tale of immortality

At times of fear – Halloween, world in crisis, the danger of the broccoli – we try different tactics to overcome it.

Halloween stimulates humor as a way of dealing with crisis.

A world in crisis… only generates anxiety and worry, but there are plenty of ways to deal with it, like meditation.

About the broccoli, no solution…

But you probably know that the source of all fears is considered the fear of death, so what about if we were immortal? A few thoughts on this:

If I am immortal, it means death is not a thing and everything that happens to me is for a reason. My focus is on the learning instead of the tragedy.

If I am immortal, it means the huge crisis the world goes through is not permanent; I rather think of things that are permanent, like my own spirituality and my relationships.

If I am immortal, everything around me is a wonder of nature and as such, all is perfect. Maybe I will be hurt or hurt others, perhaps I will damage something, but as all in nature, everything will be OK.

If I am immortal, I am free of any fear and I can live life in its fullness.
