Secrets of the universe for the common person

The Universe is huge and sometimes, we look so small… So, we, as human beings, decide to unveil its secrets.

The secrets of the Universe make life interesting and it can really improve quality life. Let’s work on a few of those secrets, taking into account my secrets are not the same as yours.

Probably the first secret is that everything we do, comes back. It is the basis of karma law and it means all we do, speak or even think, all of that is a seed that one day it will reap. So, be careful about the present and the future you want will come to you at the right time.

There is a second secret related to the first one, that gives a new dimension about karma, reincarnation. Maybe you don’t believe it, but it gives life more meaning and it makes more sense, because when we finally depart from this life, we will have a new opportunity to correct, to help others and to be a different person.

There are plenty of laws related to reincarnation and by understanding them, life is better since we will realize what is really important and what is not. Another big secret…

We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience. That is a huge secret, ignored by many people, even when they know it. By shifting the focus of life from material to spiritual, self-transformation is an easy consequence.

The last secret to be shared is about God, His place and His role at this time. I believe in God as an eternal incorporeal being, whose role is to help Earth to move towards a new age, a real Golden Age.

What about you? What are the secrets you have learnt along the way?

Religion and spirituality: reflecting and living

We need a religion, so that we can see life under a different light. Religion shows that which is invisible as something you can live in your life: God, love, peace…

We also need spirituality as it is a background that can adapt to any reality: family, work, health…

Some could say spirituality is the feeling behind all the religious practices.

Lately, things have changed; in the past few years, many people started to dissociate themselves from religion and live their own spiritual pathway.

Other people have left spirituality behind and they live religion as a series of rituals or an obligation.

So, what to do? Live both as complements or just live one of them?

As times are getting rough and the world is spiraling down, we do need something that is not related to the situations and circumstances. We need that invisible energy and that powerful feeling.

If you are having this type of doubt or your life is not as you would like it to be, there is an easy solution to discern about what to do: live your own spirituality.

By starting from the background, you can understand your role in life and what would be the best life for you.

Reflect on that.

Live it.

The role of God in the TikTok era

Well, if you look for GOD and add TikTok, you will find a whooping 235 million results… But, of course, the results are of all kinds because to try to use such a high element of spirituality comprised in the shortest video possible, it is quite difficult.

My experience of God is a life-long one and it goes beyond reading or studying, suffering or joy, understanding or believing. Although those short videos can be helpful, they cannot convey the greatness that God has.

He is known at the Brahma Kumaris, an organization to which I have been affiliated for forty years, as the Ocean of all Virtues, because that is what He is: an Ocean that comprehends all that is good and powerful.

And yet, He is also known as being just a point of light… An extremely concentrated form of energy. The words in other languages are sindhu for ocean and bindhu for point, rhyming an experience, like a living song.

We are similar to Him, but so different. We are different than Him, but so similar.

Experience God through meditation, contemplation or prayer; let that experience fill your mind and actions.

Also, enjoy those short videos, without depending on them to decide what God really is for you.

To meditate is very productive

Many people nowadays talk about the benefits of meditation in terms of productivity and several companies are investing in creating spaces for this practice. But much before all of that, I was already meditating…

To meditate gives me three important things that I think closely are related to productivity:
  • Concentration. I will be clear and confess that my concentration power if very poor… but meditation helps in terms of increasing it. When I meditate, I develop a powerful habit of thinking of one thing only, or very few ones, which is useful when I am working or any other situation that implies productivity.
  • Detachment. It is not a Zen attitude, it is something fundamental to have a good work life and yet, keep the balance with the rest of your life. But, if you like philosophy, it is said in the Gita: All the time your hands are doing, your mind should be on God.
  • Power. If you go beyond the relaxation that meditation provides and the sense of abstract, you will find that to meditate is an excellent recharger. The reason is that connects you with some more powerful source, giving you power just like when you think of someone you admire, you feel stronger.

Now, you may ask which type of meditation is the best. I do raja yoga, and I love it, but I am aware people are different and it is important you do the type of meditation with which you get more benefit.

I hope this helps you to be more productive! Check my post on productivity too.

How many candles?

In some cultures there is the habit of putting a number of candles corresponding to the number of years the person is celebrating and for some people it may be embarrassing as they have an age consciousness.

For me it is pretty good, as I carry my 54 years with the greatness of being such a special person and the humility of so much I have to learn yet… However, as part of my personal tradition, I have been doing a double birthday.

The reason is that on the same day I was born, I became aware spiritually, 36 years ago. Both summed up to 90 years. So, yes, I am 90 years old...

As the sum of its two digits is 9, if you ask me, that is the number of candles in my cake… But which candles?

Candle # 1 must go for GOD; without Him, I can’t even imagine how my life would be. I think candle # 2 is for GRATITUDE, for all I have had the chance to be, for the greatest opportunity of all to be born. The # 3 is for ACCEPTANCE… I took some time to accept myself as I am and to change on the basis of what I have accepted. I tell you, this procedure is working… Number 4 is CHANGE and my life is dedicated to change every day, towards my self-transformation. SPIRITUALITY was not in my map, it was not part of my paradigm and now it is my paradigm; number 5 is for this important aspect of my being.
The candle # 6 is for LOVE, a feeling with which I have struggled for some time, but I realised it has been within me all the time. Definitely, I need a candle for DETERMINATION, which is # 7. Particularly In my darkest days, being determined was the way to come out of situations and re-create my life, again and again I was thinking # 8 should be hope, but then I remember another pillar of my personal process has been CREATIVITY. I am not sure how I became a creative person, but that is what I am, and I love it. For a deep reflection, UNDERSTANDING is my last but not least candle, # 9. I am not always looking for understanding from others, but my main effort in life is to understand what happens and get the best from it.

And you, how many candles in your next birthday cake?

A Happy birthday from me to myself…

Is God part of your life?

Sometime ago, there was an intense campaign to declare that God was dead; the message was There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.

However, I would like to propose the opposite to this message: God does exist, so stop worrying and enjoy your life. Well, almost the opposite…

It happens that many people feel themselves persecuted by God or religions that use His name to do whatever they have to do. The image of a judging God is very strong in the collective mind of millions, maybe billions of people.

However, that image coexists with the idea of a Creator – a very loving and merciful Creator, whose love was able to shape the universe.

And maybe – just maybe – it is more a question of which idea tunes with you.

For me, God is personal. I’ve left Him when I was 14 as I realized He would not change my life. A few years later, I’ve met Him again and I have been receiving so much from Him since then, my life is totally new.

If you are interested, my suggestion is for you to ask yourself: What do I really want God for and how do I visualize my relationship with Him? In this way, you may start to feel God is more than words or ideas; He is real, as real as you and me.

Another year in my life

I am not sure if the people who invented birthday’s celebrations wanted to celebrate life, but that is what it is for me, as my birthday just came and went.

Every year, when it comes, I remember about living and experiencing, and it is a time for reflection on what I have done and how much more I have to do. I hardly get trapped into my age or nostalgia… It is a time I celebrate by walking around this beautiful city and enjoy some silence.

Besides, I consider I have two birthdays in the same day. On one hand, the one my mother and father gave me; on the other hand, the one God gave me. It was in 1983 when I started this deep relationship with God as my Father, Mother and everything.

It helps me in my work and relationships. It helps me to give relevance to everything that happens to me and the things I do and I generate.

What about you, how do you celebrate your birthday? Could you consider having some other birthday, a date when you felt as you were reborn for some reason?

The communication power: your smile and features

As a frequent customer for airlines, one thing I notice is how less and less my providers smile. And when they do, it is really not convincing...

I did not research or check statistics. It is more a feeling than anything. At some airlines, their employees are visibly tired and unhappy; others they seem to be upset you are travelling with them so they cannot have a nice time as they have to attend you.

Part of the power of communication comes from your features and a smile, a very genuine and sincere smile, is a fundamental part. Well, you cannot buy smiles nor do a Joker, but you can always learn how to smile more and more...

Smile comes from a deep sense of satisfaction. So, the easiest trick for an easy smile is that: be satisfied. Satisfaction comes from four sources:

  • The self. First of all, you need to be happy with yourself, your efforts, your capacity and energy. Satisfaction is not a static thing; it does not mean that you don't improve because you are so satisfied with whatever you are. It means you are happy with your own self and from that happiness, you will pursue your own growth or transformation.
  • Others (close). As everyone influences everyone, when others are satisfied with you and you are with them, the exchange of energy is wonderful. You will feel your life is a huge continuous party! The close ones, friends and close relatives, are the main people that influences in your own sense of satisfaction. If someone is not satisfied with you or you are not satisfied with them, it is time for reflection and to make a decision about it.
  • Others (far, far away). There are other people you are not that close, or maybe you have been close in the past. Still, our sense of satisfaction relies on the feeling of being satisfied and if your airline pilot is not doing that or your local baker, then it is time to check on what to do about it. A part of the stress experienced in big cities comes from the interaction between people who are basically strangers.
  • God or a Supreme Source of energy. Yes, God is present in our smiles too... Our relationship and its level with this Supreme Force will interfere in our personal sense of satisfaction. If you don't believe in God, it is still possible you believe in something; that point you believe, God or something else, means a lot for you and the way you feel satisfied with His or Her role in your life will help you to shape that smile in your face.

By increasing your sense of satisfaction, your smile will be easy and your features will be influenced by that, which will change the way you communicate. A smile express trust and confidence, joy and calm, so when you communicate with others, they will get that feeling from you.

About 30...

You possibly know I am in a spiritual path, with the Brahma Kumaris. And I tell you: in my wild dreams, I couldn't imagine one day I would be following this path... I never even imagined I would be discovering what I really am, and that that discovery would take decades. On the 12th., it is came three decades.

What I have found about myself in all this time it has been a wonder. It was like a veil being removed and the truth being revealed. After a time when I believed I was good for nothing, the depth of this path has helped me to find out I am not only good for everything, I am excellent.

Yet, before that wonderful day when I started going through my path, I used to do... things. I've read the first five books of the Bible, and most of the Old Testament; particularly, I've never felt attraction for the New Testament. I read the Bhagawad Gita and a small book used in the Sei-Cho-No-Ie. I never stopped really believing in some spiritual aspects of life, like God or reincarnation, but they were not in the spotlight of my existence. I always believed that a new era was to come, and not only that but I researched on it, and yet that did not change the route of my life.

30 years in a different path, chosen by my own will and decisions, have made a powerful impression in my life, moulding it and transforming it completely. The first impact was - and still is - about the essence of who I am. Not the body, not the person who was educated in such a such a way, but a soul. A free and complete soul, with all its capacities and powers. In fact, from time to time I still discover more and more aspects about who I am. It is fascinating and challenging to see my life changing not because something else is doing it, but because I am doing it.

30 years in this path has enabled me to rebuild my relationship with God. I believe every human being is not only a child of God, but his or her link with God is eternal and imperishable. However, all of us can lose that link at some point, so getting whatever you receive from that turns to be impossible. That was my case; God was an unknown figure in my life. It was so incredible how easy He came back into it. How I have learned to talk to Him again and to experience that eternal link, that eternal love. Everyday, I talk to God. Everyday, He responds to me. It is not a side relationship, it is the core part of my life as it is.

30 years in this path and I have seen obstacles melt in front of my eyes. Things I couldn't imagine I would be doing, I am doing them easily now. Melt is perhaps not the right word - I faced the obstacles using what I am receiveing from this path: knowledge, inner power, a new understanding, wisdom and a network of people who is always there to support me. I feel I am always victorious, because even when something does not happen as it should, I still learn and change.

30 years... and I have you in my life. Somehow, you have entered and you are sharing my feelings and thoughts. I welcome you and I thank you as you are part of it. You have taught me many things and I am sure there are still things to share with you in this path. Hope you can come also to your path. If it is the same as mine, I will be pleased. If it is not, I will be curious and glad to know you have found it. Because I wish one day you will also be 30 years in this path of yours. Even more...

Ah, did I tell you I am also having my birthday...

Thank you to be there.

And I thank myself to have accepted this opportunity.

Words for a New Year

Some people are arguing, saying that time is passing faster, really faster. Whether it is true or not, reality is that 2011 was over and now we are entering 2012. And it did look fast.

2012 will be an interesting year. Many things are programmed everywhere in the world, but also crisis will tend to happen more often in various scenarios and dimensions of life. With that in mind, it is good to start 2012 with some words which can be powerful for your life. These are an extract of a small text I have sent as my Christmas gift to everyone - just to explain a bit of the background, it is a fictional idea of 2012 being the last year of my (ours) life(ves).
  • If someone hurts your heart, talk to yourself and talk to God. God is the doctor of the soul, He will heal you and give you even more love.
  • Never think negative of others, because the first person who experiences that negativity is yourself.
  • If you want to take revenge on someone who causes you harm, the best way is to give him or her love, mercy, understanding and a new chance.
  • If sorrow knocks at your door, don’t open it.
  • Even though happiness does not knock at your door, open it and invite her to come in.
  • There are no excuses to not do something: responsibility and action will help you to grow.
  • If at some point a smile vanishes from your face, talk to God, with a friend or remember something pleasant. Don’t stay without a smile, not even for a second.
  • If you think of something unpleasant that happened in your life, pretend it is just a movie and clap at the protagonist, which means, yourself.
  • When pain comes, don’t stand it. With love and respect for your own body, surrender it to whoever can heal it. But don’t allow the pain reaches inside your being; to avoid that, talk to God and feel His healing love.
  • Don’t deceive yourself about your situation, but do not exaggerate in relation to your destiny. Each day is more valuable, when you know you will be leaving someday – it is better to enjoy these days rather than think when they will be over.
  • Don’t be afraid to say “I am leaving”. Understand better its meaning, talk to yourself and with others.
  • Don’t be afraid of what is waiting for you. You will reap the seeds you’ve sown, so take advantage of your last days to sow even more seeds, not in the fear of what will come.
  • Love. Don’t stop loving, never.
